The Shift of a Country

As far as the eye can see

Students and leaves fill the space

Crowded, they push through

Some not even looking

Colored lines dot the sidewalk, for bikes

Waving like a flag, a girl’s long hair

Light makes it aglow

Noisy, metal spokes spin round

Orange, crunching leaves

(Do they know what day it is?)

Oblivion fills

Cracks of sidewalk as they go

The leaves no better
